In 2016, Mike Leist, a teacher at Steinbrenner High School began suffering from ALS. Teaching soon became hard for him, but the students wouldn’t let him go without a proper goodbye. The students organized fundraisers and a kickball game and raised over $26,000 for his medical bills and family. Mr. Leist is remembered as an inspiring teacher that shaped the lives of thousands of students throughout his career.
